PM’s electronic security did not cause Heathrow crash
13.05.08
The British Airways jet that crashed at Heathrow on January 17 did not suffer from electrical interference, an interim report from crash investigators says. The cause of the crash is unknown, but the theory that radio signals from Gordon Brown's motorcade interfered with the Boeing 777, which came down on grass at the end of the runway, has been dismissed.
The plane, which was arriving from China, skidded on the grass and part of its undercarriage collapsed. However, of the 136 passengers and 16 crew, only one person was seriously injured. A theory in the aviation industry was that the crash may have been caused by some sort of electromagnetic interference caused by signals from the prime minister's motorcade, which was leaving Heathrow after dropping Gordon Brown off for a flight to China.
