Heathrow coach driver convicted over road rage

The driver of a coach heading for Heathrow who leaped from his packed vehicle to attack a woman driver in a fit of road rage has been ordered to do community service. National Express driver Wahid Amin jumped down from his bus in Kingswood High Street to attack 26-year-old Alexandra Gibson after she stopped to let out other traffic, meaning that he was slipping behind schedule.
A court heard she had given way to four cars on the street, holding up the Bristol-to-Heathrow express driven by Amin. His shocked passengers saw the 52-year-old bus driver get off the coach and go up to Ms Gibson's Fiat Punto and pull open the door. Magistrates heard he then hit and scratched her face, shouting: ‘You've made me late’
Ms Gibson screamed for help as Amin got back on his bus and drove off. Amin was later tracked down by police and charged with assault. He denied the charge, but was convicted and ordered to carry out 80 days' community service. He must also pay £150 compensation to Ms Gibson, who says she has suffered panic attacks following the incident.
Amin, who was employed by First Bus in Swansea and lived in the town, has since lost his job. He was seconded to National Express at the time of the incident. National Express and a First Bus spokeswomen both said: ‘This driver no longer works for us.'
