BA rumoured to be talking to India’s Kingfisher
12.06.09
As the debate over foreign direct investment in Indian airlines rumbles on, cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines is reported to be in talks with British Airways for an investment. A 49% equity would give BA a board seat, while control would remain with the Indian airline.
India’s present policy allows investment of up to 49% in Indian airlines but not by foreign airlines. BA refused to comment on the story, and a Kingfisher spokesman said, ‘We’ve not offered any comment on this subject recently.’
