BA to hold fresh cabin crew talks
07.01.10
British Airways will hold fresh talks with the union representing its cabin crew in an attempt to resolve a dispute over changes to terms and conditions, including staffing levels. The two sides have agreed to talks after BA blocked a 12-day strike by 13,000 of its flight attendants that would have disrupted travel for more than 1 million people over Christmas and New Year in the courts.
Representatives of the airline will meet with union leaders at the TUC over the next few days, the Unite union said in a statement. Unite also said that the talks will not stop it proceeding with a second ballot to poll members on industrial action. Unite’s joint secretary generals Tony Woodley and Derek Simpson said: ‘We have said all along that this dispute could only be resolved through negotiation. We are delighted to be joining BA management in talks at the TUC.’
