Heathrow hotel prices up 6 percent
04.09.11
Heathrow Airport hotels have seen the biggest rise in room rates this year. The average room rate for the first half of this year was £110.60 - a 6 percent rise on the same period last year, a survey by corporate service company HRG found.
London rates averaged £156.82 in the period - a 2% rise on the first half of 2010, while there were also 2% rises in average rates at Manchester, Bristol and Leeds hotels. Rates at Cardiff hotels were 1% up on the same period last year, with average rates in Birmingham and Belfast about the same, Edinburgh and Glasgow down 1%, Newcastle down 2% and Liverpool down 7%.
A spokesman for HRG said: ‘Despite widespread speculation that hotel rates would rise sharply in the UK in 2011, this failed to materialise. The top 12 cities saw an average flat percentage rate year-on-year versus 2010.’
