Virgin confirms axing in flight beauty treatments
01.05.08
Virgin Atlantic is to scrap its in-flight beauty treatments for its first-class passengers in a move affecting 280 staff, the Press Association reports.
The beauty therapists offered treatments, including massages, to passengers in the airline's Upper Class section during flights. They were so popular that passengers would book treatments and ask to be woken up mid flight to take them.
However, as in the current economic environment, the airline has decided to axe them in what appears to be a cost cutting measure. A spokesman for the airline told PA that it would instead expand the number of treatments offered at its first-class passenger ‘clubhouse’ lounge at Heathrow Airport.
