17 hour delay for Flyglobespan Glasgow Airport passengers
31.07.08
Hundreds of holidaymakers endured 17-hour delay at Glasgow Airport, with their Flyglobespan flight finally taking off today, the Evening Times reports. The technical fault that hit an estimated 250 passengers is believed to have been in one of the wheels on a plane returning from Calgary yesterday.
Passengers on the flight to Calgary were stuck at the airport until after midnight last night when a fault was found on a jet returning from the Canadian city. They were then put in airport hotels or sent home for the night, but many had just a few hours' sleep before heading back to the airport - only to find they faced a further delay this morning whilst they waited for a replacement aircraft, the newspaper reports.
A flyglobespan spokeswoman apologised for the delay and said: ‘Passengers were advised to return home or were offered overnight accommodation in a nearby hotel. They were also given regular updates on the expected departure time of their flight. To minimise delay, another aircraft which was operating on another route was re-allocated to the Glasgow-Calgary-Vancouver service, which departed at 10:40 today.’
