Plan to cut car use at Glasgow Airport
27.02.09
A five-year plan has been unveiled to cut car use and boost public transport for those using Glasgow Airport. Under the plan, airport operator BAA, will attempt to raise passengers use of public transport from 880,000 to 1.2 million by 2012, an increase over over 35 percent.
The airport will also support taxi sharing and staff walking and cycling schemes to reduce the need for car journeys. BAA hopes to achieve a series of targets by 2013, when the airport's rail link becomes operational, which is expected to further drive down car use.
