BA suspend former MSPs wife over theft allegations

The wife of former Scottish Socialist MSP Tommy Sheridan has been suspended from her job as an air hostess following an inquiry into theft allegations. Gail Sheridan, 44, has been suspended by British Airways in connection with the alleged theft of alcohol miniatures, the Daily Record reports.
Mrs Sheridan is reported to be ‘livid’ after being suspended from her air hostess job over the allegations. She was collared by BA bosses when she boarded a flight to start her shift at Glasgow Airport yesterday. She was taken off the plane and interviewed at the airport.
The cabin crew member was charged with perjury on Tuesday following her husband's defamation case against a Sunday newspaper in 2006. Lothian and Borders Police would not comment on newspaper reports that alcohol miniatures were found in the Sheridan home by officers investigating the perjury allegations.
Lothian and Borders Police are believed to have passed information about the miniatures to BA.
The airline reacted swiftly and mounted their own internal inquiry. A BA spokesman said: ‘A member of cabin crew has been suspended as part of an ongoing inquiry.’
Mr Sheridan, 43, was charged with perjury in December - 16 months after he won his £200,000 action against the News Of The World at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. His father-in-law Angus Healy, 71, and three colleagues who backed him in the trial have also been charged.
Mrs Sheridan's lawyer said his client had an unblemished record as a British Airways employee and was determined to prove her innocence. She had served with BA for 23 years, the solicitor added in a statement.
