Big drop in transatlantic flights from Glasgow Airport
18.03.09
Glasgow Airport has struggled to replace the hole in its schedules caused by the collapse of Canadian based airline Zoom last year, with seating capacity on flights to North America dropping by more than a quarter this year, booking forecasts seen by The Herald show.
Figures provided by independent consultants RDC Aviation to the newspaper show that capacity on scheduled flights from Glasgow will fall by 10.6% between January and August this year, compared to the same period last year. Capacity will also fall at Aberdeen airport by 6.5%, but will grow by 5% at Edinburgh Airport, the newspaper reports.
