Glasgow Airport begins skyhub countdown
17.07.08
Glasgow Airport has started the countdown to the launch of its terminal extension, known as the skyhub. Airport managers confirmed that the £31 million development is on schedule to open in less than 100 days.
The skyhub is set to offer a better experience to passengers. The two-storey development, which represents the biggest single investment at Glasgow Airport for 15 years, will include a ground floor domestic arrivals hall set to open on October 21 and a new security search area due to open a few days later.
This new security zone will feature ten X-ray machines that allow a quicker and more efficient screening of passengers. Once through security, passengers will be able to visit shops, bars and restaurants including names such as Hugo Boss, Starbucks and JD Wetherspoon.
Airport managing director Gordon Dewar said: ‘The opening of skyhub, now just 100 days away, promises a better airport experience for our passengers, with fast, efficient security screening, more space to relax and a wider choice of bars, restaurants and shops.'
