Glasgow Airport hero out of hospital

A hero of the terror attack on Glasgow Airport who suffered a brain haemorrhage just over two weeks ago has been released from hospital.
As previously reported, Groundsman Stephen Clarkson, was fighting for his life after suffering a brain haemorrhage at his mother's home just before New Year. The 41-year-old, who tackled bomber Kafeel Ahmed during the attack on June 30, has had two major operations to stem the bleeding at Glasgow's Southern General Hospital.
On his release yesterday he said: 'It feels good to be going home. I feel much better. I didn't think I would see the day that I was walking out of here because I thought I was going to die. I thought it was all over. If it wasn't for the nurses and doctors at the Southern General, I don't think I'd be alive today. I owe my life to them and the treatment I received was second to none.'
Mr. Clarkson faces more surgery when he returns to hospital in six weeks. With characteristic courage, he said: 'I'm determined to beat this and get my life back to normal. I have been given strong tablets for my brain to stop the haemorrhaging re-occurring. I know I'll have to go back in about six weeks but I'm up for it and will keep myself fit and healthy. I have every confidence the doctors will see me through this and I'll survive.'
