Uefa Cup final boosts Scottish Airport passenger numbers

Passengers at Scotland's three biggest airports reached record levels last month as a the Uefa Cup final in Glasgow and new overseas services boosted numbers. Nearly two million people passed through the country's three biggest airports in May, according to figures released by BAA this week.
The figures were boosted by the Uefa cup final between Spanish sides Seville and Espanyol in Glasgow, when an estimated 30,000 fans flew in, and new routes to Italy, Germany, France and Canada.
During may 1,914,962 passengers passed through Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports, up 5.5% on the same month last year as international traffic rose by 15.7%.
Glasgow was Scotland's busiest airport with 808,993 passengers, up 3.7% on the previous year, including an extra 17,000 passengers on specially-chartered flights for the Uefa final. Edinburgh Airport also enjoyed a football boost, with about 5000 visiting Seville fans making their way through the airport. Aberdeen had 301,400 passengers, up 9.9%.
