Big passenger fall at Glasgow Airport
12.09.09
Glasgow Airport has seen passenger numbers plunge by more than one million over the last two years. A 13.4% drop in passengers last month saw the airport named the worst performing of the seven owned by BAA.
Since 2007 the airport has lost nearly 1.4 million passengers as the recession has taken a bite out of the package holiday market. Aberdeen suffered the second biggest loss, with 9.8% fewer passengers last month than August 2008. However, Edinburgh has nearly recovered from the aviation downturn, with annual passengers numbers creeping back over 9 million for the first time since benefiting from the fifth consecutive month of growth.
