Glasgow Airport expects busiest day
11.10.08
Tens of thousands of Scots are escaping the weather and the credit crunch through Glasgow Airport as the October school break kicks off, the Evening Times reports. An estimated 130,000 passengers are due to pass through the airport over the weekend, including 38,100 yesterday - the busiest day of the year.
The previous record for this year was Friday, July 11, when 35,807 passengers flew out. Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said an extra 23,000 airline seats had been laid on this weekend to cope with the holiday rush. Top destinations for flights from Glasgow were the sun spots in Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Florida.
