Glasgow Airport ‘Skyhub’ on tack
10.06.08
The £30 million redevelopment project at Glasgow Airport known as the 'Skyhub' has entered a new phase following the completion of the physical structure. The facility takes its name from the Nasa-approved translucent fibreglass system which developers Balfour Beatty are planning to use in its windows.
The 4,000 sq metre extension will transform passengers' experience at the airport when it opens to the public on October 21. The expansion project is the biggest seen by the airport in a generation, introducing a new state-of-the-art security search area in addition to a range of bars, shops, restaurants and lounges.
Glasgow Airport managing director Gordon Dewar said: ‘With skyhub, everything is under one roof. No matter where you're travelling, once you've passed through security, you can eat, shop or relax anywhere in the terminal.’
