08.09.11
A woman was arrested at Glasgow Airport yesterday over an assault on a long-haul flight. The 54-year-old was held when the plane, arriving from Toronto, touched down early in the morning.
The passenger on flight TS-124 is reported to have become abusive 40 minutes before landing. She is said to have appeared drunk and to have wandered around the cabin with a cigarette in her hand, trying to light it.
After landing, the captain ordered all passengers to remain in their seats until police had boarded the plane and escorted the woman off. A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: ‘A 54-year-old woman was detained in connection with an alleged assault on board a flight from Canada to Glasgow. The woman is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.'
