More than 70 members of staff at Glasgow Airport have been honoured for their fundraising efforts after raising tens of thousands of pounds. The BAA I-Volunteer Awards, which recognise the work of airport staff who give their time to the community, this year saw a record 71 entries from Glasgow, with two of the short listed applicants scooping the award for Most Supportive Manager and the runner-up prize for Best Volunteering Individual.
The total raised by airport staff nearly reached the £20,000 mark. Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: ‘I am immensely proud of the many volunteers, who make a real difference to their community. We see ourselves as a community airport, working to support regeneration and tackle disadvantage wherever we can. With a record number of entries this year, The team has done itself proud, raising more money for good causes than ever before.’
