Winning Gatwick bid not announced for ‘days, if not weeks’
29.04.09
The winning bid for Gatwick Airport will not be announced for some time, a spokesman for BAA said today. A deadline for second-round bids passed yesterday, with BAA expected to have received offers from three consortiums - Global Infrastructure Partners, Citibank lead Lysander Gatwick Investment Group and Manchester Airports Group with Borealis and Greater Manchester Pension Fund.
A BAA spokesperson noted there is still some way to go before the new owner of Gatwick Airport is unveiled. He told Reuters: ‘The process will be far from finished - even once we've got all the bids. It will probably be days, if not weeks, before we are in a position to make an announcement to say here is the winning bid.’
