Gatwick use simulation software to improve check-in experience
27.07.11
SIMUL8 has launched a major simulation project at Gatwick Airport. The airport is investing £1 million per day to modernise its facilities and create a better passenger experience, and as part of this it is improving its check-in areas to deliver benefits for its airlines and for the 32 million passengers that pass through Gatwick each year with a better and speedier check-in experience.
Neil Hutcheon, SIMUL8 Consultant, said: ‘The check-in area of any airport is often the most memorable point of the passenger journey, and often the most challenging. This project will give the team at Gatwick the ability to experiment with different check-in scenarios to find the most efficient and ensure the best possible experience for every passenger.’
SIMUL8 simulation software will be used to create a simulation of the check-in process that will include real flight schedules and airline information. The simulation will allow the team at Gatwick to visualise the impact of any changes they make to the process and provides valuable insight so that any changes are right first time.
