Ash cloud to clear UK by the weekend
26.05.11
The ash cloud from the Grimsvotn volcano is expected to clear the UK in time for the bank holiday weekend and busy half term getaway, Sky News reports. Only a handful of flights to and from the UK were cancelled yesterday - mostly to and from Germany, which closed part of its airspace - as the ash moved away from Britain and northern Europe.
The Met Office has predicted there will be an ‘improving situation’ over the weekend, with only ‘minimal ash’ over the UK and Europe. But it warned the movement of the ash cloud would depend on whether there were any further eruptions and how weather patterns developed.
