British Airways will launch 12 new routes to holiday hotspots from Gatwick over the next few weeks. However, a number of routes from Gatwick, Heathrow and London City airports will cease to make way for these new services.
The airline will begin flights from Gatwick to Alicante, Faro, Gibraltar, Malaga, Malta, Palma, Poznan and Tunis on Sunday (March 30), to Genoa on April 4, Antalya on April 10, Ibiza on June 1 and Paphos on July 1.
BA is also increasing flights to the US from Heathrow - in total, the airline will fly 41 times a day to 18 US destinations this summer - and launching services from Heathrow to Malaga on March 30. It will launch flights from London City to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Nice and Warsaw on May 6.
However, a number of routes will cease at the same time to make way for these new routes. BA will no longer fly from Gatwick to Aberdeen, Nice, Prague and Reykjavik, from Heathrow to Detroit and from London City to Milan Malpensa.
BA also announced that it will offer passengers the opportunity to upgrade to its Club Europe cabin for £59 one way. BA commercial director Robert Boyle said: 'As one of the only short-haul full-service carriers at Gatwick we combine low fares with complimentary food and drink, pre-allocated seats and opportunity to join the BA executive club [lounge].'
