Gatwick Airport launch noise plan consultation
21.06.09
Following on from Heathrow, Stansted and Southampton, Gatwick Airport has launched a 16-week public consultation period on its draft noise action plan. Andy Flower, managing director at the airport, said: ‘We know noise from Gatwick is a concern for local people. We are committed to managing our impact on those communities surrounding the airport which are most affected by our operation.'
‘Aviation brings many economic and social benefits to the region, which must be balanced against its impact on the environment. This plan will demonstrate further commitment to achieving our aim to be a responsible neighbour.’
The five year noise action plan will be submitted to the Department for Transport and is required to comply with European regulations. The final plan, which will take into consideration comments made during the consultation period, will be submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport later this year.
