Man charged after trying to open door on Gatwick bound plane

A man has been charged with endangering the safety of an aircraft after trying to open an exit door mid-flight. Thomas Lewis Hughes, 56, is accused of acting recklessly on the flight between Kenya and Gatwick Airport last May.
Mr Hughes, of Tyn Caeau Estate, Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, Anglesey, was remanded on bail by magistrates in Crawley. The incident happened on a Monarch Airlines plane from Mombassa on 25 May last year. He is due to appear before Crawley magistrates again on 30 June for committal proceedings.
