British Airways has reported that it operated 87 percent of its flights on time in May, a new punctuality record for the month. The latest figures are slightly up on the previous month, when 85 percent of its flights departed on time including during the busy Easter period.
At Gatwick Airport, BA saw 92 percent of its flights on time in April and achieved a 94 percent in May, marking the best month on record for any airline at the hub. The airline's operations are also improving at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5, which handled more than four million customers on around 30,000 flights in April and May.
Andy Lord, director of operations for BA, said: ‘We have never had such consistently high feedback scores from our customers. Our operation continues to break records on an almost weekly basis. On many days we now have more than 90 percent of our 720 flights around the world departing on time.’
