A thief who stole baggage from passengers waiting for flights at Gatwick and Heathrow has been jailed. Israel Santofimio-Medina, 45, stole a rucksack from a man who was on the concourse at Gatwick. Airport CCTV showed him taking a camera, iPod and other electronic goods from the rucksack last September and putting it into a bag he was carrying.
Mr Santofimio-Medina, of no fixed abode, was arrested by Metropolitan Police for a similar offence at Heathrow soon after and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for the theft. On Friday he was jailed for a further six months at Lewes Crown Court after pleading guilty to the Gatwick offence.
