Snow boost for airport hotels

The recent freeze across the UK brought an unexpected boost for UK airport hotel operators. Daily data from STR Global, the provider of market data to the world's hotel industry, showed recent adverse weather and road conditions forced people to stay in the hotels as airports were closed.
Data for the UK for the first working week of 2010 (3 - 9 January) compared to the same period in 2009 (4 - 10 January) showed improved performance at the UK's two biggest airport destinations (Heathrow and Gatwick).
