New parking / traffic marshals at Gatwick
16.04.08
A new traffic marshalling service will be introduced at Gatwick Airport from April 21. The airport says that the new marshals will 'help improve traffic flows and security around Gatwick, and will focus on perimeter roads and forecourts,' adding that they 'will provide assistance to the existing traffic wardens who enforce parking rules at Gatwick, helping to improve accessibility at terminals'.
Fraser Brown, head of commercial transport at BAA Gatwick, said: 'The new team of marshals will provide valuable support to the traffic wardens in maintaining the flow of traffic through our forecourts. By moving on any parked vehicles and freeing up valuable drop off bays, delays for passengers will be kept to a minimum. Marshals will redirect drivers who are not immediately dropping off passengers to our short stay car parks [where they have to pay parking fees] in order to prevent congestion.'
