Iceland Express to launch flights from Gatwick
15.04.08
Iceland Express is to launch flights from Gatwick Airport this winter, to complement its Stansted flights. From September 16, the budget airline will start a five times a week service between Gatwick and Reykjavik, in addition to its daily service from Stansted.
The Gatwick flights will operate each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, departing Gatwick at 21:00 and arriving at Keflavik International Airport at 23:00. The return flights leave Keflavik at 16:05, arriving Gatwick at 20:00 (all times local).
Marketing manager Birna Gumundsdóttir said: ‘We wanted to expand into Gatwick for some time, and the decision by British Airways to suspend its flights to Reykjavik earlier this year meant that the time was right to do so.’
The new service will be operated using Boeing 737- 700 aircraft with 148 seats owned by its sister company, Gatwick based Astraeus.
