Britannia to invest £10m in Gatwick Airport hotel

Britannia Hotels, which bought the 130-bedroom Russ Hill Hotel near Gatwick Airport out of administration last week, is planning to invest £10m on a refurbishment of the hotel, where it will look to add 50 bedrooms, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The Russ Hill Hotel, acquired for an undisclosed sum, takes the number of Britannia Hotels to 36, with more than 7,000 bedrooms across the UK. It is the company's third at Gatwick.
Robert Ferrari, finance director at Britannia, told the newspaper: ‘We want to upgrade the Russ Hill into a three or four-star hotel and renovation work will start immediately with plans to complete in the next 12 months. We want to restore the hotel to its former glory. We have done the same in the past with some of our other hotels and where necessary we will spend money to renovate a hotel to its original grandeur.’
