Sun County to operate Minneapolis – Gatwick flights again next summer
12.12.10
Sun Country Airlines will operate twice-weekly summer seasonal service between Minneapolis / St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Gatwick Airport from May 27 next year. The summer service will continue through September 4, a longer period in 2011 than this past summer.
The flights will provide travellers with the only direct air service between the two cities. The airline will operate the route with Boeing 737-800s. Because the 737-800 does not have the range to operate nonstop in either direction on the MSP-LGW route, flights will land at Gander International Airport (YQX) in Newfoundland to refuel, both eastbound and westbound.
Stan Gadek, Sun Country Airlines’ president and CEO, said: ‘Last summer’s service was very popular with travellers on both sides of the Atlantic. Gatwick is convenient to London and also serves as an easy connecting point to cities all across Great Britain and Europe. This new service is perfect for travellers who want to explore London and the UK or for those who want to travel on to Europe.’
