Woman born on plane celebrates 18th – with a flight
12.10.09
Shona Owen, a student who was born on board a British Airways plane in 1991 heading from Africa to Gatwick, has taken to the skies to celebrate her 18th birthday, the Sun reports. Miss Owen, of Aberdeen, was delivered at 7,000ft in the first class compartment of a Boeing 747 jet as it approached Gatwick Airport. A unique entry on her passport reads: ‘Holder born on an aeroplane, 10 miles south of Mayfield, Sussex’.
To mark her unusual birth, she was given the names Shona Kirsty Yves – with the initials spelling out SKY! Now the 18-year-old, who was born six weeks early, has celebrated her birthday in style with a free flight to Australia to see her grandmother courtesy of BA – first class of course.
