AirAsia X to switch flights from Stansted to Gatwick
12.07.11
AirAsia X, the long haul, low cost airline that that flies six times weekly to Stansted from Kuala Lumpur, will move its base to Gatwick from late-October this year, according to reports in Malaysia. The Malaysian Star newspaper’s ‘sources’ said the announcement is likely to be made today from London and the move is for commercial reasons - Gatwick has offered ‘irresistible rates’ for landing and parking at the airport.
The source said other advantages of Gatwick are that it has a larger number of transiting passengers and connecting flights, when compared with Stansted, and that it is closer to the city, making travel into London easier for passengers.
