Gatwick passengers and load factors up in April
12.05.11
Gatwick Airport has reported record load factors and big passenger growth for April as holidaymakers seized the bundle of bank holidays to travel from the hub. The airport reports 2.76 million passengers passed through its two terminals in April, an additional 702,500 passengers compared to April last year, or 34.2% growth.
However, last April’s figures were affected by the ash cloud disruption, when air space was closed for six days and some 600,000 passengers could not travel, with this year boosted by a later Easter holiday period. In the year to the end of April 32.3 million passengers used the airport, up 1.5% on the previous 12 months.
Load factors on planes leaving the airport in April this year reached a record high, increasing 3.2% percentage points to 79.7%.
