Astraeus ‘not for sale’
12.03.09
Astraeus Airlines has insisted it is not for sale and that it will be providing its sister company Iceland Express with another aircraft as it expands, TTG reports. The Gatwick based company, which leases aircraft and crew, moved to scotch rumours that it was about to be sold to Meridian Aviation.
Rumours suggested Meridian was interested in an acquisition so it could use Astraeus aircraft for a summer Turkey programme. However, an Astraeus spokesman told TTG: ‘There is no foundation in it. Astraeus is not for sale.’ He said Meridian approached Astraeus about using its aircraft, but Astraeus declined because of ‘incompatibility of our respective business models’.
