Gatwick passengers up 6.8%; long haul passenger drop

Gatwick Airport reported passengers up 6.8% last month compared to a year ago, however its long-haul traffic was down 6.5%. Flights to Europe and Ireland were up about 14% and domestic travel was up almost 5%.
The airport had 3.5% more transatlantic passengers last month compared with May last year. A new long-haul airline, Sun Country, started flying from Gatwick to Minneapolis last month and the national carrier of Nigeria, Air Nigeria, will start daily flights to Lagos in September.
