BA cut Gatwick fares to take on budget rivals
09.11.10
British Airways has launched discounted fares on a number of its short-haul routes from Gatwick to try to claw back business from its low-cost rivals, travelmole reports. The airline is offering one-way, year-round fares from £49 inclusive of taxes to a third of the 42 routes it serves from Gatwick as part of its new High Value Flying campaign.
BA head of brand and insights Abigail Comber said that, unlike low-cost rivals such as easyJet, its fares included check-in luggage, drinks and snacks onboard and allocated seating. Passengers can also take two pieces of hand-luggage. She said: ‘With British Airways, the price you see is the price you get. High Value Flying is about not scrambling into a sandwich shop before you board, but getting drinks and a snack as standard.’
