05.04.09
Flybe is to make Gatwick Airport its 14th base and has announced that it will launch a new Dusseldorf service from the airport. The new route, which starts on June 22, will operate three times a day each weekday, daily each Saturday and twice daily each Sunday, with fares from £29.99 one way including taxes.
The airline's chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said: ‘Dusseldorf has been a big success for us out of Southampton, Manchester and Birmingham. We have big plans to grow further in Germany and this new route from Gatwick shows we mean business.’
Flybe has grown rapidly at Gatwick over the last 18 months, adding services to Aberdeen, Newcastle and Newquay, and claims to be the third largest slot-holder at the airport. The latest addition means it will operate nearly 500 flights a week from the airport this summer.
