Monarch passengers down

Gatwick Airport based Monarch’s scheduled passenger numbers were 7.79% down in February compared to 2008. The airline carried almost 189,000 passengers on scheduled services during the month.
The airline pointed out that passengers were 4.9% up when compared to January 2009, and claimed this showed that customers are still travelling. Load factors in February 2009 averaged 79.13%, slightly down on 79.31% in February 2008. Its internet sales percentage remained constant at 89%.
