Gatwick closed again today

All flights to and from Gatwick Airport have now been grounded again today. The airport will not open until at least 06:00 on Friday after more snow fell overnight, having been closed all day yesterday too. Edinburgh and London City airports have suffered similar problems and both are also closed for the morning. Passengers have been urged not to travel to the airports.
Gatwick had hoped to reopen the runway at 06:00 today, which was initially pushed back to 10:00, but the airport said ‘deteriorating conditions’ meant it would remain shut all day after six inches (15cm) more snow fell overnight following heavy snowfall on Wednesday.
A spokesman said: ‘We are doing everything we can to resume operations, however conditions have deteriorated considerably. Our teams are working around the clock to make the runway safe for aircraft to use and get our airlines and passengers flying again.’ He urged passengers to contact airlines to find out when individual flights would resume.
