TAP strike to hit Gatwick flights
02.06.09
Flights between Gatwick and Porto could be severely disrupted from June 4 - 13 if pilots from TAP Air Portugal subsidiary Portugalia go ahead with their threat to strike over pay and conditions. Some domestic flights within Portugal will also be hit by the strike, but Heathrow operations to and from Portugal and flights from Gatwick to Madeira (Funchal) would not be affected.
A spokesman for TAP said it was doing all that it could to avoid the stoppages and remains optimistic that the issues can be resolved without the need for strike action. If the strike goes ahead TAP will put passengers on its flights from Heathrow where possible. In addition, passengers holding confirmed and ticketed bookings can change their travel plans without charge.
