easyJet expects record bank holiday
02.05.08
easyJet says that the May bank holiday will be a popular period for spring getaways, with 450,000 passengers expected to take its flights over the long weekend. Britain is set to see a spell of cold and wet weather, and easyJet expects sunshine hotspots to prove the most popular among UK travellers. Alicante, Faro and Malaga are the top foreign holiday spots, while Edinburgh is the number one city break location, followed by Amsterdam, Barcelona and Geneva.
A spokesman for the airline said: ‘More people than ever are taking advantage of their bank holiday weekends, with over 450,000 passengers jetting off across Europe with easyJet to soak up a little sun or experience a few cultural days away on a city break. It's impossible to rely on the great British weather and, let's face it, sunshine and relaxation is far more appealing than DIY.’
easyJet operates the most flights from Gatwick Airport (not Luton, as some would expect), with Bristol, Stansted, Liverpool and Glasgow also big bases for the budget airline.
