Flybe flight emergency at Edinburgh Airport
30.07.09
An emergency was declared at Edinburgh Airport yesterday after an inbound Flybe flight reported problems with its hydraulic system. Emergency services were called to the airport just after 17:30 after the flight from Bergerac, France called in the alarm.
The flight, which had 50 passengers and 4 crew on board, was scheduled to land at 17:20, but had to delay landing. It circled overhead for more than 20 minutes before landing safely, with passengers disembarking shortly after.
A spokesperson for BAA said that the plane was given a full safety check after landing as a precautionary measure. It is the third Flybe flight in less than a week to make an emergency landing, with a plane landing at Gatwick after the cabin filled up with smoke and another landing at Exeter after a lightening strike.
