Beauty queen attacks Edinburgh Airport drop off fee
29.08.10
The debate around Edinburgh Airport's new drop-off fee continues to fester, with Miss Edinburgh registering her objection. Fiona Dickie has joined forces with the Lothians MSP Gavin Brown to protest against the introduction of a £1 charge for those who use the drop-off car park at the hub, Travel Weekly reports.
Edinburgh Airport announced in July that it would be imposing the fees from October but stressed that people could still drop off passengers for free in an area near the Hilton hotel, with a free shuttle to the terminal. Ms Dickie, who worked at a Thomas Cook travel agency, told the newspaper: ‘The travel industry has faced some of the toughest challenges imaginable this year with the recession, ash cloud, strikes and company failures. The last thing we need is another hurdle to overcome.'
