New bus for Edinburgh Airport
28.07.09
A new bus service linking Edinburgh Airport with the north west of the city has been launched. It comes after new figures showed record public transport use amongst passengers using the airport, the Evening News reports.
The new Horsburgh 64 service operates every hour from early morning to the evening, connecting the airport with Edinburgh Park train station, Cramond, Davidson's Mains, Muirhouse, Pilton and the Western General Hospital. It is fourth bus service at Edinburgh Airport and the second operated by Horsburgh, following the successful launch of its 777/555 service to West Lothian two years ago.
The service, which starts at a time of record passenger numbers at Edinburgh Airport, is the first bus to run direct to the north of the Capital. Gordon Dewar, managing director of Edinburgh Airport, told the newspaper: ‘We have never been more focused on increasing the percentage of airport passengers that use public transport . I am proud that today, more than a quarter of our passengers travel to and from the airport by bus or coach.’
