Airlines asked to refuel outside Scotland
23.04.08
Airlines have been asked not to refuel their planes at Scottish airports and instead do so outside Scotland ahead of an oil plant strike. BAA made the advisory call to airlines at its three airports - Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh Airport - yesterday.
Workers at Grangemouth plan to strike from Sunday over plans to end the final salary pension scheme for new recruits. The company has begun shutting down the refinery, which processes 210,000 barrels of oil a day, over the issue. A BAA spokesman said it decided to issue the advisory notice as a precaution.
