Edinburgh Airport car rental centre opened
16.05.09
A £10 million car rental centre at Edinburgh Airport was officially opened yesterday, offering a one stop shop for passengers at Scotland's busiest airport. Rally driver and TV presenter Penny Mallory opened the new centre, which brings together all of the airport's car rental companies under one roof.
Built by Keir Group, the development is part of a planned £100 million investment by Edinburgh Airport over the next 5 years. A covered walkway links the new centre, one of the largest of its kind in the UK, to the airport's main terminal. The centre also includes a new car rental pick up and return area, next to the Hilton Hotel.
Work is progressing on a £41 million departure lounge extension at the airport, with the first phase set to open to passengers in November. The development will offer more space to relax, a wider choice of bars, shops and restaurants and a new purpose built security search area.
