Fog hits Scottish flights

Fog at Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports caused huge delays to flights today. By 16:00 Prestwick Airport had handled ten flights diverted from Edinburgh or Glasgow with more expected over the weekend. Prestwick also handled flights from Liverpool, Southampton, Kirkwall, Sumburgh and Stornoway amongst others.
Fog in other parts of the UK, including London and Orkney, also affected outgoing flights from Edinburgh. Visibility was down to 200 metres and the temperature was below freezing. There were reports of huge queues at airline desks with passengers trying to change their flights.
