Ryanair add routes, increase flights from Edinburgh
11.02.10
Ryanair is to operate three new destinations from Edinburgh Airport, launching Scotland's first direct link to Morocco with flights to Marrakech, plus new services to Paris and Faro in Portugal. The budget airline will also increase the frequency of services on 6 other routes.
Edinburgh Airport director Gordon Dewar said the new routes made the city ‘better connected than ever’. He said: ‘We are delighted that Ryanair has chosen Edinburgh for this expansion. It is also pleasing that this has meant we have managed to replace the seats lost by the collapse of Flyglobespan late last year.’
The changes will take effect from May and Ryanair's traffic at Edinburgh Airport is expected to grow to approximately 2.5m passengers a year. The new services will increase the airline's destinations from Edinburgh to 39, with six planes based at the airport. The announcement has come a day after the airline announced a new route between Edinburgh and Kaunus in Lithuania.
