Blue1 announce Edinburgh – Helsinki service
05.09.10
Edinburgh Airport has gained a new route to the Finnish Capital Helsinki, a first for Scotland. It is the 25th destination to be added to Edinburgh Airport in 2010, brings the number of routes from Scotland's capital to 125 and means that the airport is number one in the UK (outside London) in terms of links to Scandinavia.
The twice weekly service will be operated by Finnish airline Blue1 starting in April 2011. It takes Edinburgh's Scandinavia destinations to eight. Kevin Brown, managing director, Edinburgh Airport, said: ‘This is a significant development for the airport and and for Edinburgh itself. It is expected to be a predominantly inbound route, and shows the continuing strength of Edinburgh as a destination.’
